Command Control brings Brittany Kaiser to Germany for the very first time. On March 3, 2020 the Cambridge Analytica whistleblower will give the opening keynote address at the two-day Cybersecurity Summit organized by Messe München. Brittany Kaiser became famous worldwide following the data scandal surrounding Facebook and Cambridge Analytica in 2018 and can currently be seen in the widely respected Netflix Documentary “The Great Hack”. Following the Cambridge Analytica scandal she founded the campaign #OwnYourData and now campaigns worldwide for a more ethical handling of personal data.
“In 2018 the Cambridge Analytica scandal reverberated around the world and raised public awareness of the issue of how technology corporations, companies, government operators and parties handle data,” says Klaus Dittrich, Chairman and CEO of Messe München. “We are delighted that at Command Control we will have the opportunity to discuss with Brittany Kaiser, one of the most influential figures in this field, how a more ethical handling of data could be achieved and what rules would be required.”
Brittany Kaiser grew up in Chicago / USA and in 2007 was part of the media team in Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. From 2015 to early 2018 one of her roles was Director of Business Development for SCL Group, the parent company of Cambridge Analytica. During this period, she was involved in several campaigns during which Facebook data was used to supply voter groups with online content targeted specifically for them. In spring 2018 she took the decision to become a whistleblower and inform the public about the activities of Cambridge Analytica founding the campaign #OwnYourData. Since then she has campaigned against misuse of data and is advocating a move to a more ethical handling of personal data and information.
