Into the Lion's Den: Command Control Will Award Prizes to Cybersecurity Startups for the Second Time

February 28, 2020
  • Young companies present their ideas in the Lion's Den
  • Jury with Dr. Tim Sattler (CISO at Jungheinrich AG), Prof. Dr. Udo Helmbrecht (Universität der Bundeswehr München [Munich University of the Federal Armed Forces]), Michael Helisch (VP Infosec & GRC Wirecard) & Willi Mannheims (eCAPITAL)
  • Own startup area during the complete event

Command Control welcomes not only established market players from the cybersecurity and privacy environment. Young founders in particular often have promising approaches to tackling current and future security challenges. This is why Command Control is providing startups their own stage for the second time. Ten founders will present their business idea to a high-profile jury in the Lion's Den on the first day of the event (at 16:30 on March 3). The best next-generation entrepreneurs will receive awards.

These startups are taking part this year: ThreatQuotient, DataGuard, greenhats, C2SEC Inc., myPrivacy GmbH, Vulidity, CyberDirekt, Ankarion, Alyne GmbH and Christie Data GmbH.

“Cyber security is changing rapidly. What is still a well-functioning security solution today may no longer provide protection tomorrow. Therefore, new ideas and approaches are constantly needed. That is why it is important that we also pay attention to the products and services of young entrepreneurs,” Katharina Keupp stated, Project Manager of Command Control. “Since the main topic of Command Control 2020 is Cyber Resilience, we have now decided to structure the start-up pitch accordingly. The start-ups will answer the question to what extent their solution contributes to improved cyber resilience in 3-minute pitches.

That is why we have also included two “users” in the jury to challenge the practicality, degree of innovation and sophistication of the new solution.”

Top-Rate Jury

Command Control has succeeded in putting together a top-rate jury for the Lion's Den:

  • Dr. Tim Sattler, CISO Jungheinrich AG, is the winner of the CISO Award 2019 and has 20 years of professional experience in the fields of information security, IT risk management and IT compliance.
  • Prof. Udo Helmbrecht is Honorary President ENISA & Professor at the Munich University of the Federal Armed Forces. He was also CIO of the Bayerischen Versorgungskammer (Bavarian Pension Fund) and President of the Bundesamtes für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI: German Federal Office for Information Security Technology) for six years during his professional career.
  • Michael Helisch, Vice President Information Security Governance, Risk & Compliance at Wirecard, has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of information, cyber and corporate security as well as operational risk management. He is the winner of the Outstanding Security Performance Award 2017 in the category “Security Awareness Initiatives”.
